Luxembourg and France are absolutely ‘more than neighbours’ following the successful state visit and economic mission that brought the two countries closer together with ties in double taxation regime, space, research, ICT, creativity, and ease of lifestyle of cross-border workers as well as investments in P&R and infrastructure.

Luxinnovation experts were involved in the mission particularly with ICT business development and the Luxembourg Creative Industries Cluster.

ICT Digital Seminar in France

The digital seminar started with an overview of the Luxembourg data-driven economy hosted by David Foy, Head of Sector Development – Digital Economy, Luxinnovation, who put the focus on the strong partnerships between France and Luxembourg already in place in the form of commercial partnerships and several R&D initiatives, specifically between EDF (Électricité de France) and Valeo. The European HPC (High Performant Computing) project lead by Luxembourg and including France was also a topic of discussion.

During the seminar, a partnership agreement was signed between Excellium (Lux) and CyRating (FR) which was a perfect example of the link between the two countries.

Presentations by EDF, Creos, Valeo and Goodyear explained the use cases for smart energy grids and eMobility solutions all reposing on HPC solutions both for validation of their solutions and daily management of the solutions. EDF explained how smart energy grids are becoming more mature with the increase of electric mobility solutions to better predict energy requirements and distribution. Creos presented how their solutions are being rolled out to the masses and the impact that this has on the daily lives of the population. Valeo presented the solutions that were accelerating the adoption of autonomous driving and how the collected data is exploited to secure and predict this evolving ecosystem. Goodyear put the emphasis on the tyre of the future which is aimed at reducing roadside breakdown with predictive maintenance and even the possibility of an oxygen generating tyre.
