Created in Luxembourg in 2010, iNUI Studio designs and develops innovative software for human-computer interaction, such as multi-touch surfaces and gesture recognition systems. Its solutions are applied in fields such as communication, entertainment, marketing and education.

Touchless technology

Samsung Electronics France and Luxembourg-based iNUI Studio have recently released a touchless interactive kiosk solutionThe company is perhaps best known for its AIR TOUCH® technology, which makes it possible to interact with screens without touching them. Screens equipped with this technology can be displayed, for example, in shop windows, where clients can interact with them without being hindered by the glass plate that separates them from the device.

The COVID pandemic particularly highlights the usefulness of this technology made in Luxembourg. “Several studies – like the one led by the London Metropolitan University – revealed that public touchscreens are reservoirs for viruses, germs and bacteria,” says the company on its website. “Including dangerous ones. Because no contact means no germs transfer, our patented innovation is a real game changer for the post-COVID world.”

AIR TOUCH® is based on powerful image processing algorithms allowing mid-air interaction where the users’ fingers are recognised at a distance of 5 cm from the screen. It is possible to click, double-click, drag and drop, slide and zoom just like on a conventional touch device.

Interactive kiosk

The new interactive kiosk combines AIR TOUCH® optical sensors with a Samsung 55’’ 4K screen and a powerful processor. It is particularly suitable for use by hotels, fast-food restaurants, transportation and any space welcoming the public.
