Global Financial Centres Index 28 - September 2020 - indexLuxembourg has once again been ranked as a leading European and global financial centre according the latest edition of the Global Financial Centres Index 28. The index is published by China Development Institute (CDI) in Shenzhen and Z/Yen Partners in London. It provides evaluations of future competitiveness and rankings for 111 major financial centres around the world.

Number 1 in the EU – number 12 in the world

The study ranks Luxembourg as the 12th most important financial centre in the world. The country improves its position by 6 places compared to the previous edition. The ranking is topped by New York, London and Shanghai.

Luxembourg is ranked as number one in the EU, followed by Edinburgh (#13) , Frankfurt (#16) and Paris (#18).

Outstanding financial expertise

The study is based on 138 criteria, grouped into five main categories: business environment, human capital, infrastructure, financial sector development and reputation.

Luxembourg stands out for its financial expertise in particular and is ranked 4th in the category “human capital” after New York, London and Hong Kong.

Professional services, insurance, investment management

The study has also established sub-indexes for various activities of the financial sector, and Luxembourg regularly appears among the best:
