DESI is a composite index that summarises relevant indicators on Europe’s digital performance and tracks the evolution of EU Member States in digital competitiveness. The DESI report tracks the progress made by Member States in terms of their digitisation. It is structured around five chapters: Connectivity, Human Capital, Use of Internet Services, Integration of Digital Technology and Digital Public Services.

Top ranks: connectivity, human capital, internet use

Luxembourg performs well in connectivity (2nd rank in DESI 2018), both for coverage and subscription (take-up). It records very good results (5th rank in DESI 2018) for human capital, especially in use or in digital skills where it is a top performer. It achieves very good results for internet use by its residents (4th rank in DESI 2018).

Ambitious strategy

Luxembourg has undertaken an ambitious economic diversification strategy for the digital sector. This strategy is multidimensional and collaborative, embracing skills, infrastructure, the digital ecosystem and public services. The strategy is grouped under an umbrella initiative called Digital Luxembourg.
