Increased production capacities

Luxembourg is an important site for masterbatch specialist Ampacet: its EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) HQ is located here alongside its newest European plant, an R&D lab and an Ideation Centre. 80% of Ampacet’s European production also transits via the company’s logistics centre located in the south of the country.

Ampacet is now investing in two new production lines for colour masterbatches which, according to Luxembourg business magazine PaperJam, will open in 2019. A first such production line was opened in Luxembourg in 2017, representing an investment of €5.5 million. Masterbatches are concentrates that enhance plastics by adding colour or imparting specific properties, such as UV resistance or anti-bacterial qualities, and the new production lines will considerably increase the company’s production capacity in Luxembourg.

A bigger centre for innovation

Cebi International is building a new engineering centre with lab facilities at its global headquarters in Luxembourg, with the aim of further boosting innovation. PaperJam reports that the new centre will be three times bigger than the current facilities and host around 60 researchers who will test and validate components produced both in Luxembourg and at the company’s plants in Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Mexico and China.

This manufacturer of electromechanical products for the automotive and household appliance industries, e-mobility applications and industrial applications has a strong innovation slant to all its activities. Cebi is one of the forerunners in Luxembourg in the implementation of Industry 4.0 and aims to transform its Luxembourg production unit into a smart factory. The company was also recently awarded by industry federation FEDIL – The Voice of Luxembourg’s Industry for its Blow-by Heater, an innovative high volume component designed and produced in Luxembourg to protect engines and turbochargers from ice debris that may form within the engine’s crankcase ventilation system.
