On Thursday 11 January, Marc Hansen – Luxembourg’s Ministry for Higher Education and Research – presented the contract with the University of Luxembourg and the multi-year agreements with the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) and Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER) as well as the FNR (National Research Fund), for the years 2018 to 2021.

During these years, the state will invest €1.44 billion in research and higher education. €766.8 million will be allocated to the University of Luxembourg and €383 million to the three public research centres LIST, LIH and LISER. In addition, €265.4 million will be allocated to programmes and instruments of the National Research Fund. A bonus of €20.5 million will reward the performance of institutions in the European Union’s Framework Programme for Research and Development.
