The data economy is constantly growing in importance, and so is cybersecurity. Luxembourg is internationally renowned for its commitment to cybersecurity and the strategic role it gives to this field of expertise, not only as a defence issue but also as an economic success factor.
Taiwan is equally recognised in this field. “Taiwan has a vibrant cybersecurity ecosystem providing innovative solutions, in terms of both hardware and software,” comments Sophie Liao, Senior Advisor, Trade and Investment Promotion at the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office (LTIO) in Taipei. “We truly believe that there is a huge untapped potential for both ecosystems to explore.”
Cybersecurity Week Luxembourg: an opportunity
The role of the LTIO is to help companies from Taiwan interested in establishing a foothold on the European market determine whether Luxembourg would be the right place for them and facilitate the way for them to establish offices there. An event such as the Cybersecurity Week Luxembourg can be a good starting point.

“This event is a great opportunity to meet and network with cybersecurity professionals from all over Europe, especially as Luxembourg took over the presidency of the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC) last February,” explains Ms Liao. “In addition, Luxembourg is an excellent gateway to the EU market. As two of the companies that we are working with, LYDSEC Digital Technology and KeyXentic, have global ambitions to become leading players in their respective areas, we encouraged them to participate actively in the event where they would be able to increase their exposure and establish contacts across Europe.”
Finding business opportunities
LYDSEC’s core technology is multi-factor authentication that does not infringe on personal privacy. Its Chairman, Cheng-I Lin, came to Luxembourg to network and find business opportunities in Luxembourg and neighbouring countries such as the Netherlands, France and Germany. “Luxembourg is a perfect location for doing business,” confirms Mr Lin. “People here are very friendly and happy to introduce you to business opportunities. I think this is the best way to do business here – and I love it.”

Mobile and data security service provider KeyXentic, which designs convenient and strong security for user data protection and privacy, was represented at the Cybersecurity Week by its Vice President Eros Chen. “We would like to introduce KeyXentic’s solutions on the European market and look for local business partners,” he explains. “We also want to have a better understanding of the cybersecurity trends and regulations in the EU.”
Leveraging resources
Mr Lin is also Vice Chairman of Taiwan Information Security Association and interested in connecting local resources in Luxembourg with the Taiwanese cybersecurity industry for promoting bilateral exchanges. “Cybersecurity is evolving fast in both countries. I would like to leverage the resources on both sides and connect them together,” he concludes.
